With a strong ending of "Empire" season 1, fans should expect that season 2 of the Fox drama will commence right after the arrest of Lucious (Terrence Howard). Similarly, there will be a new cast in the season 2 in addition to the old members.

While Lucious is in prison, his family - ex-wife Cookie (Taraji P. Gray) and three sons including Jamal (Jussie Smollett), Andre (Trai Byers), and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) - will continue fighting for Empire records. Fans can now have a taste of what will come in season premiere "The Devils Are Here."

Fox has also released an official synopsis of season 2.

"Season 2 picks up three months after the shocking arrest and incarceration of Empire Entertainment head Lucious Lyon. Still in federal lockup, Lucious is trying to run Empire from inside, while a headline-grabbing state prosecutor hangs her political ambitions on bringing him down - no matter what it takes."

Showrunner Ilene Chaiken teased that she hopes to continue making the show a series that associates with many people, TVLine reported.

Chaiken said, "We want to continue to make the audience gasp and laugh and scream and cry."

The showrunner unveiled that Lucious will ultimately come out of prison and emerge "more ferocious and more powerful than before." Among his sons, Hakeem will be the most grown, and sadly for Lucious, his ex-wife will emerge "unstoppable" in attempting to establish her personal labels.

Meanwhile, season 2 will not have the same old members of the cast. According to E! Online, Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys, and Kelly Rowland will guest star in "Empire" season 2. Season 1 of the hit show "Empire" featured cameos from big names like Snoop Dogg, Patti LaBelle, Cuba Gooding Jr., Raven-Symone, and Mary J. Blige.

"Empire" Season 2 debuts Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
