The new film is set to be more than just a musical remake  where the new on-screen take on the character will follow stories from all eight books by P.L. Travers as a pose to the original film which had been based on the first book, according to Entertainment Weekly

According to the publication the new Poppins nanny will find herself in post-depression London and will follow her adventures with the Banks family. However, the film will not be a sequel to the original it is reported.

Director of  "Into The Woods" and "Chicago" Rob Marshall  is to direct the remake of the beloved Disney movie, according to USA Today. Sources who are aware of the project but unable to speak openly as yet have confirmed the news to the publication.

It is reported that the song writing duo behind "Smash" and "Hairspray" Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman will be a part of the song composing team while David Magee of "Finding Neverland" and "Life Of Pi" will pen the screenplay.

Further  Marshall and Disney are working together with the Travers estate and have earned a thumbs up from original Poppins' co-composer Richard Sherman who together with his late brother Robert wrote memorable songs like "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" and "Chim Chim Cher-ee" that have become ingrained in the minds of viewers through the years earning the film the iconic reputation of being a family classic.
