Just like it is tradition, "Longmire" season 4 ended with a cliffhanger and now fans are wondering whether there will be another season for the western-themed crime drama.
The fourth season continues to receive rave reviews and feedbacks from viewers and critics, heightening the likelihood for a season 5.
The most recent season almost turned out a flop after A&E cancelled the series, with season 3 episode finale airing in August 2014. Warner Horizon Television solicited for a new network that would show the progression of the plot - according to Craig Johnson's novel "Walt Longmire Mysteries" - and Netflix decided to take up the task, Deadline reported.
Similarly, the entertainment streaming provider premiered the 10-episode season 4 on Sept. 10 and fans had the liberty to binge-view the series immediately it was released.
"Longmire" season 4 began immediately where season 3 ended, when Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) discovered the person responsible for his wife's murder. His mission is to track down the killer and avenge his wife at all cost. Longmire also investigates the death of Branch Connally (Bailey Chase), with a belief that the deputy's death was self-inflicted.
Eventually, the sheriff finds out who murdered his wife and Connally, but still he has to handle some other crimes that took place within his line of duty in Wyoming's Absaroka County.
Meanwhile, it is not the first time the writers of "Longmire" have presented a cliffhanger without reassuring fans that there will be another season. The same happened in the third season when the fate of Branch and his father Barlow (Gerald McRanney) remained in suspense after a gunshot was heard. Viewers were lucky when Netflix picked up the show and decided to resolve the plot.
According to Examiner, fans of "Longmire" will still have to wait for confirmation from Netflix to know whether there will be a season 5.
