"World War Z" writer Drew Goddard has shared his thoughts on the functionality of his "Sinister Six" in Marvel's Cinematic Universe.

Goddard was set to have a "Sinister Six" project in his plans, along with "The Amazing Spider-Man 3," before the latter was scrapped following Spider-Man's introduction to Marvel's Cinematic Universe.

In his interview with io9 to promote Ridley Scott's upcoming sci-fi film "The Martian," Goddard said that his "Sinister Six" concept would fit in very well to the plans of other filmmakers, which indicates that the supervillain group could be used by Marvel directors in upcoming films. The writer-producer said that all it takes are few years prior to the possible rise of the supervillain team in the big screen.

For Goddard, he views the "Sinister Six" as a "summer annual," which means that continuity would not be an issue. He also mentioned that he was looking forward on a film that would not have mythology and permanence concerns. In fact, he views "Sinister Six" as giant and epic "Spider-Man" film.

The first version of the Sinister Six includes Kraven the Hunter, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Mysterio, Sandman, and Vulture; however, the line-up has been modified for a number of times over time.

While Goddard's "Sinister Six" has not been revealed, rumors said that the roster would have been Kraven, Mysterio, Vulture, Doctor Octopus, and Green Goblin, with the last slot being Rhino, Electro, or The Lizard, according to Cinema Blend.

Meanwhile, Tom Holland is set to debut the iconic superhero Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Joe Russo and Anthony's upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" prior to his appearance in Jon Watts' "Spider-Man" reboot.

Watts' "Spider-Man" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on July 28, 2017while the Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" is set hit theaters on May 6, 2016. Meanwhile, Scott's "The Martian" will rise in theaters on Oct. 2, 2015.
