There's still a month before Halo fans can get their hands on the latest title from 343 Industries, "Halo 5: Guardians." Despite this, it appears that the team has started to develop more than just this year's Halo iteration.

343 Industries already knows where its franchise is heading towards in the long-term, and Bonnie Ross and Frank O'Connor shared some insights about Halo's future to DualShockers. According to the 343 Industries head and Halo development director, both of them already know very well where the game is going at this point in time.

O'Connor revealed that they are already at a stage where serious planning and writing are being done for "Halo 6." This has enabled the team to know what will happen to the franchise even as far as 10 years into its future.

The big reveal is that the developer already knows what will happen to the Master Chief "ultimately." While the development process does play a hand in the overall progress and possible changes in the story, O'Connor stated that the team already knows what's going to happen based on how previous iterations have set up the game.

There is certainly a huge amount of detail and planning that can be seen in the way "Halo 5: Guardians" has been unveiled since its first announcement. An evidence of this is the Hunt the Truth audio series, which has recently started its second season. The viral marketing from Microsoft and 343 Industries shows just how much the groundwork of the game has already been laid out to result in such an intricate and deliberate reveal via the audio series.

Whatever the future of Halo may be, the latest game also has innovations worth checking out. In fact, Creative Director Josh Holmes revealed that they are even seeing one of the maps, Arena, as a possible competitive play experience.

"We have even starts, a level playing field, [and] a variety of game modes that cater to that taste," said Holmes to the VentureBeat. "It's built from the group up for eSports, but it's there for players of all skill levels."

In a recent hands-on by the publication, it was found that the multiplayer allowed for a level playing field in terms of weapons and abilities, taking out the Requisition System for this particular mode. What's more, it's a one-life round that will put tactics to good use, especially with the newly-introduced Spartan abilities into the game.

"Halo 5: Guardians" will launch on Oct. 27 on the Xbox One.
