The fate of "Longmire" season 5 is still hanging by a thread as Netflix has yet to release an official announcement if the show will be cancelled or renewed. Fans of the Western-inspired criminal drama, however, have started an online petition in an attempt to convince the network producers.

In its official Facebook fan page, the moderator encouraged the fans to participate in a long hour stampede on Oct. 8. He reminded fans to use the hashtag Longmires5, as well as tag Netflix so that the site will be able to see how passionate the fans are. A few added that they wanted the show to go on until seventh season.

Many netizens expressed their support for the campaign, saying that they will not stop tweeting until Netflix announce the show's renewal. Some added that the streaming site will be crazy to cancel the show given its original storyline and huge following.

When A&E cancelled "Longmire" after season 3, it definitely came as a surprise to many given that it was able to pull in an average of 5.6 million viewers. The series reportedly was also the network's most-watched original scripted series.

When asked the reason for the cancellation, A&E explained that although the show had high ratings it did not fit their target demographic.  Thankfully, Netflix picked it up and ordered ten episodes for season 4.

In an interview with Parade, Ally Walker (Dr. Donna Sue Monahan) hinted that the show was renewed for another season. She added that she was "pretty sure" that her character will be coming back in the coming episodes.
