Seven days before the official release of "Halo 5: Guardians," the game's publisher Microsoft provided additional details about the game's multiplayer component and covered skill ranking system, medals and ban policy.
In the multiplayer feature, players are not allowed to join Arena matches that are in progress. On the other hand, players are allowed to join ongoing Warzone matches.
"Halo 5: Guardians" developer 343 Industries also introduced the Competitive Skill Ranking (CSR). First time players are required to complete a series of matches before they can be awarded with their own CSR. Players can be categorized in either one of the seven CSR ranks namely (in ascending order); bronze, gold, platinum, diamond, onyx and champion. The only way to upgrade CSR ranking is by winning matches. A special cosmetic reward will be given to top players who are able to the highest possible CSR in one month.
Matchmaking on "Halo 5: Guardians" will depend on the player's CSR rank. They will be matched first with players on their exact CSR rank and if that is not enough, the matchmaking algorithm will widen it to cover the next closest rank.
In "Halo 5: Guardians" various medals will be awarded to players after completing a certain feat. 343 Industries multiplayer designer Max Grossman told Gamespot, "For as many new Medals that appear in Halo 5, there are just as many that we tinkered during developments that didn't make the cut."
Grossman added that the design of the medals will "preserve the classic feel of the legacy medals while giving our Medals a fresh new look." The complete set of medals can be accessed in the official "Halo" website.
343 Industries will also impose a ban policy on "Halo 5: Guardians" in order to maintain top quality gaming experience. Players will be temporarily banned in the following circumstances; quitting matches, killing teammates, idling, intentional suicides and excessive disconnects.
343 Industries said that players who repeatedly engage in those actions will receive temporary bans. The duration of the ban will depend on how often they commit the infraction.
The highly-anticipated "Halo 5: Guardians" will be released on Oct. 27.
