The other two HTC flagship devices HTC One M8 and HTC One M9 are expected to get this upgrade before the end of this year.

It was earlier reported that HTC One M8 Eye may not receive the Android Marshmallow update anytime soon. The reason behind this was based on the low specs which the device sports in comparison with the high end HTC devices.

However, it has made it to the list of devices receiving the update as it is equipped with 2 GB of RAM and 2.3 GHz processor chip set, which is just enough to push the device to the boundary and make it eligible to receive this upgrade.

It is a known fact that HTC operates on a 90 day cycle for all its software upgrades. It is also know that the company supports a device and its upgrades only for two years after its launch. This may make many HTC devices to miss getting the official Android Marshmallow update. These users will need to flash their ROM and download the custom version of the update.

The update is expected to be rolled out for HTC Desire 816, Desire 820, HTC One ME, HTC One E8, HTC One E9, Desire 826, HTC One E9 Plus, and One M9 Plus.

HTC is also releasing the much anticipated HTC A9 ON Oct 20, which will be equipped with Android Marshmallow out of the box. According to BGR, Android Marshmallow update will enhance the battery life and also provide support for Android Pay on the device.
