Comedian Amy Schumer together with her cousin US senator Chuck Schumer, held a press conference last Oct. 25, Sunday, in New York City Hall to publicize their movements against the possession of firearms.

Following the unfortunate event three months prior where a gunman injured nine people and shot and killed two others including himself in the screening of Schumer's movie "Trainwreck" in Louisiana, the comedian has pushed for the banning of guns.

In addition, the two Schumers call their initiative a "Crusade Against Guns" and both have been working on the project since August of this year as reported by USA Today.

Not only is the "Trainwreck" star saddened when the devastating news reached her, Schumer also expressed her sentiment regarding the matter by saying, "I don't know why he picked my movie but ... it's something that I live with every day and I vowed to never forget the two lives that were tragically lost." as reported by Time.

According to the actress, victims 33-year-old Jillian Johnson and 21-year-old Mayci Breaux, will always be on her mind.

Schumer and Schumer, as what the comedian and the New York democrat prefer to call themselves, have been pushing forward the mandate to conduct a background check of an individual who intends to purchase a gun or any firearm.

Additionally, bios, records and certifications will also be checked and asked for from customers, during shows on firearms and in online shopping platforms.

The senator also quoted the opening line of "Saturday Night Live" in his speech as he said, "Live from New York: We're aiming for a change." Schumer & Schumer have released their slogan "Enough Is Enough" on social media, gathering the attention and support of fans and those who agree in their advocacy.

Besides aiming for the ban of guns and firearms and doing research on potential buyers, the senator also aims to prevent those buyers with criminal records and those who have severe mental illnesses from purchasing firearms.
