There are rumors that the Android Marshmallow update for Sony Xperia Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5 is delayed. It may be released in early 2016.

Sony is known to take its own sweet time in releasing the Android upgrades for its devices. It was earlier reported that many of the Sony Xperia devices will receive this update by 2015-end or Jan. 2016.

However, the Japanese tech giant is yet to reveal the official date of release for different devices which will get the Android Marshmallow update, according to Android Headlines.

Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5, Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, Sony Xperia C4, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua, Sony Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M5, Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Tablet Compact, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, Sony Xperia Z3 Plus, Xperia Z4 Tablet, are confirmed to be getting the Android Marshmallow upgrade. Users can also expect many more additions to be made to this list of devices.

Some of the Sony devices like Sony Xperia Z3 Plus, Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia M4 Aqua, Xperia C4, Sony Xperia C5 Ultra along with Sony Xperia M5, will be skipping the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 update entirely and will jump to Android Marshmallow directly.

On the other hand, high end Sony Xperia devices like Sony Xperia Z5 Compact and Sony Xperia Z5 are all set to get the Android Marshmallow update before the end of this year.

The Android Marshmallow update will bring a log of changes in the material design of the smartphones, according to BGR. It will also fix the issue of over heating of the device along with narrowing the touch lag time of the device.
