Mantis is a half-Vietnamese, half-German woman who stayed with the Priests of Pama, a sect of the Kree, when she was a child. Believing that she was the Celestial Madonna, the Kree taught her martial arts. Mantis also has the ability to easily identify weak points in an opponent, in addition to her extraordinary strength.

Seeing Klementieff play Mantis would not be surprising, as per Cinema Blend. The publication said that there had been rumors that the character would be introduced to Marvel's Cinematic Universe. Mantis was set to debut in Joss Whedon's "Avengers: Age of Ultron," serving as liaison between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

While Klementieff could play the aforementioned role, it has yet to be revealed.

Aside from Spike Lee's action mystery film "Oldboy," Klementieff is also known for her roles in Nicolas Vanier's drama film "Loup," David Foenkinos and Stephane Foenkinos' romantic comedy film "Delicacy," and Cyril Morin's romance thriller film "Hacker's Game."

"Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper (voice), Vin Diesel (voice), Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, and possibly Howard the Duck, among others. "Sicario" star Benicio del Toro is also set to reprise his role as The Collector while the director teased that there would be one Sneeper in the film.

Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" starts principal production in 2016 and is slated to premiere in theaters in United States on May 5, 2017.
