"Spectre" actress Lea Seydoux has voiced her thoughts on what is happening in Marvel's forthcoming film "Gambit."
Seydoux is set to play the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux in Marvel's "Gambit." In her interview with Cinema Blend for the press junket of Sam Mendes' upcoming James Bond film "Spectre" in Mexico City, along with her co-star Monica Bellucci, Seydoux said that she had nothing to say for the moment.
It seems that the film is currently in limbo, as per Cinema Blend. It does not have its director yet, as Rupert Wyatt, who was hired to helm the upcoming superhero film left the director's chair. According to Screen Rant, "Mena" director Doug Liman was reported to be courted by to take the helm; however, no follow-up information has been revealed yet.
In addition to the absence of a director, Marvel's "Gambit" seems to be struggling at the moment, since it does not have a production date on its calendar of activities. Since it is going to be released next year, not having a definite date for the start of production is quite concerning for the film. According to Cinema Blend, the film's current status might lead its production team to move its release in 2017.
"Gambit" features the origin story of the Cajun mutant. At the moment, additional cast members and exact plot details have yet to be announced. Channing Tatum is set to play the Cajun mutant while Seydoux is rumored to play Bella Donna Boudreaux.
Meanwhile, Mendes' "Spectre" centers on the events following the MI6 bombing incident. The members of the cast include Seydoux as Madeleinde Swann, Dave Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Ralph Fiennes as Gareth Mallory, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Monica Belluci as Lucia Sciarra, Christopher Waltz as Franz Oberhauser, and Daniel Craig as super spy 007 Bond, among others.
Marvel's "Gambit" solo film is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Oct. 7, 2016 while Mendes' "Spectre" is now showing in theaters.
