"X-Men: Apocalypse" actor Nicholas Hoult has revealed his concern about superhero films.

Hoult is set to reprise his role as Hank McCoy, also known as beast, in Bryan Singer's forthcoming Marvel Comics film "X-Men: Apocalypse." In his interview with NME to promote Owen Harris' comedy crime thriller film "Kill Your Friends," Hoult said that at times, he would see superhero films and had been frustrated by them.

According to Hoult, he did feel that some were just packaging and teams producing superhero films were not trying hard enough, since they knew it was a "bankable formula."

Superhero films that featured heroes who were born to fight hard times and win, which was a similar story relentlessly retold to people, would not do well in the big screen, as per Cinema Blend. According to the publication, a superhero story would become bland if the audience knew that the protagonist was going to succeed secondary to being familiar with the hero's predictable story arc.

Meanwhile, fans are set to see the mutants in Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse," which centers on the rise of En Sabah Nur, also known as Apocalypse, as he recruits his powerful Horsemen to help him destroy humanity. To prevent their archenemy from fulfilling his plan of massive destruction, Professor X must lead a team of young mutants.

Aside from Hoult, "X-Men: Apocalypse" also stars Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Olivia Munn, Lana Condor, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Ben Hardy, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Rose Byrne, Josh Helman, and Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, among others.

Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 27, 2016.
