Nicki Minaj has posted a bond of $100,000 to bail out her elder brother, Jelani Maraj, who was arrested earlier on the charges of raping a 12-year-old over an extended period of time on Long Island.
Maraj was arrested on Dec. 1, Tuesday, but had to be transported to Nassau University to treat an undisclosed medical condition. He is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sexual conduct against the preteen and was kept in Nassau County prison.
The bond was backed by two of Minaj's homes in Baldwin, New York. The rapper will also be for the fees associated with securing the bond, typically 6 percent to 10 percent of the bond amount, New York Post reported.
Maraj is due back in court on Dec. 9, according to the Nassau County district attorney's office. It is not clear if he has entered a plea or not, People reported.
Details of the alleged offence have not yet been released, including the exact date he is accused of raping the youngster.
The accusations of rape comes three months after Maraj tied the know with his long time fiancé Jacqueline Robinson at Coral House in Baldwin, New York. The extravagant wedding was reportedly sponsored by the rapper who spent close to $30000 for her brother's big day.
The rapper was also present at the wedding, sporting a figure-hugging red designer gown and shared a heartfelt post to mark the occasion.
"I would cross the ocean for u. I would go & bring u the moon. Promise u. For u I will," wrote Minaj to caption a pic in which she is seen in close embrace with her brother.
