Will "South Park" creators try to tone it down in the hit comedy series' upcoming season 19 after the controversial Charlie Hebdo shooting?
France has been in the headlines recently after the French satirical publication Charlie Hedbo suffered from a terror attack, which saddened several Hollywood comedians including Conan O'Brien and Jon Stewart.
Among those who paid their lives for the terror attack was Charlie Hebdo editor who before his death said, "I prefer to die standing up than live on my knees," Washington Post reported.
In the United States, Parker and Stone are considered to be among the most controversial cartoonists who are never shied away from controversy and mocking. Neither Stone nor Parker has commented on the Charlie Hebdo shooting and how it will affect their animation series and details about "South Park" Season 19 are yet to be revealed.
In December 2014, the "South Park" season 18 finale featured "Blank Space" hit maker Taylor Swift, "Black Widow" rapper Iggy Azalea, accused rapist Bill Cosby and a hologram of the late Elvis Presley.
While it is known for offending viewers of all political inclinations, "South Park" has been generally supportive of the LGBT community with the characters Stan Marsh's gay dog Sparky, the melodramatic but clever Big Gay Al, and the formerly closeted grade school teacher Mr. Garrison.
On the third episode titled "The Cissy," the Comedy Central animated sitcom "South Park" season 18 tackled the issue of transgendered children and it was done in a way it was not expected.
Stone and Parker approached the issue of transgender individuals and bathroom rights. It has been almost a decade since Mr. Garrison became Mrs. Garrison, notoriously selfish sociopath, Eric Cartman, put on a pink bow and pretended to be transgendered, which he ignorantly called himself "transginger." Since the boy's bathroom at school is always full, Eric had to appropriate a transgender identity just to be able to use the girl's bathroom.
It is yet to be seen whether the Charlie Hebdo shooting will have an impact on "South Park" season 19.
