The year is nearly over and it sounds fairly appropriate to sum up the big news in the gaming industry. Steam recently released a list summarizing the overall sales figure of all games in its library from April 1 to Dec. 20.
1) Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (5,634,096 copies sold)
Topping the list is "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" popularly known as CS:GO. The online first person shooter video game is developed through the joint effort of Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment. The game is the fourth installment in the "Counter-Strike" franchise and was released on Aug. 21, 2012.
"Counter-Strike: Global Offensieve" is available on several platforms including Microsoft Windows, OS X and Xbox 360. A PlayStation 3 version of available exclusively in the United States.
2) Grand Theft Auto V (3,595,901 copies sold)
Next on the list is the highly successful action-adventure, open world video title "Grand Theft Auto V." it is the first entry into the equally successful "Grand Theft Auto" franchise since the release of "Grand Theft Auto IV" in 2008.
The game is available on several platforms including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The console version of the game was released on Sept. 17, 2013 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and Nov. 18, 2013 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. The Windows version of the game was released on April 14, according to Medium.
3) Fallout 4 (2,187,649 copies sold)
Third in the list is the fifth installment of the open world action role-playing franchise "Fallout." The game is by far the most hyped game of the year and the resulting sales record is staggering. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, "Fallout 4" was released on Nov. 10.
"Fallout 4" is available on the Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. According to its official Steam product page, the game is currently available for a discounted price of $50.
