"Transformers 5" actor Mark Wahlberg is reportedly doing everything that he can to convince director Michael Bay to return to the franchise.
Bay previously confirmed that he will no longer return to direct "Transformers 5" because he wants to focus on other types of films. However, there have been speculations that the movie will not survive without him.
According to Master Herald, Wahlberg previously hinted that he and Bay will be working together again after they complete their previous engagements. This has led fans to speculate that Bay can return to the franchise because after filming "Deepwater," Wahlberg will already start filming "Transformers 5."
Meanwhile, in an interview with Collider, Wahlberg also said that he believes Bay will return to "Transformers 5" because the director would not want to hand the task to someone else just like that.
Since Bay directed all of the "Transformers" movies before, he already left his stamp on the franchise. It also seems that Bay wants to work with head writer Akiva Goldsman, who was previously tapped by the producers to lead the other writers in creating a one of a kind story.
With this, there are reports that Goldsman and the other writers will ultimately focus on Optimus Prime's journey to the outer space. If "Transformers 5" will become successful, there is a chance that Goldman and the other writers will also be tasked to pen spinoffs sometime in the near future.
As of late, the complete cast of "Transformers 5" has not yet been confirmed. The film will be released in 2017.
