HTC One M8 and HTC One M9 smartphones are confirmed to receive the Android M update but the company is slow on revealing whether both the handsets will receive Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
According to Droid Life, the Product Manager of HTC, Mo Versi has revealed through a tweet that the HTC One M8 will not only receive the upcoming Android M update but also the HTC Sense 7 UI will also available for its users. However, the news may disappoint M8 users as the Sense 7 UI update was expected to arrive this month.
The HTC One M8 will not be receiving the Android 5.1 Lollipop and it will directly receive Android M along with Sense 7 UI. However, the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition owners have already installed Android 5.1 Lollipop on their handsets.
There is no confirmation whether it will receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The proprietary Sense 7 UI software from HTC is currently available on the HTC One M9, the flagship of 2015.
The HTC One M9 Developer Edition users have received Android 5.1 Lollipop. Carriers in the United States have also rolled out Android 5.1 for M9 owners in July. Even users in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa have started receiving the update at the start of this month.
There is no announcement on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for HTC One M9 users. However, there is a possibility that it may be released before the Android M is made available for the HTC One M9 handsets, the International Business Times reported. The HTC One M9+ is also poised to receive the Android M update.
