"Castle" season 8 will air its finale episode in the next couple of weeks, and fans are already looking forward to finding out what will happen to their favorite characters.
According to Cartermatt, not much detail about the finale has been released as of the moment. However, there are already some speculations as to what could go down in the episode.
The publication revealed that it's possible Rick's (Nathan Fillion_ missing time and the mystery surrounding LokSat will finally have a conclusion.
When this happens, Rick and Kate (Stana Katic) will find it easier to tell their friends and family that they have gotten back together a long time ago.
On the contrary, it's also possible that Rick and Kate's missing time will not be given a conclusion in the finale episode. After all, the series showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley have been dragging some old storylines for several seasons now.
For instance, Rick's disappearance took place in the previous season, but until the current season, it is still the same storyline being discussed.
Meanwhile, the publication also said that the finale episode should open opportunities so that if the series is renewed next season, there will be new storylines to play around with.
The co-showrunners also previously said that they want season 9 to feature weekly cases that will have a conclusion at the end of every episode.
In an interview with TV Line, Hawley said that the fate of "Castle" hasn't been decided yet because it's still quite early to do so anyway.
"The reality is that the network execs won't make that decision until very late. So our plan is just to tell a satisfying story and try to wrap up the season in an exciting way," he said.
Back in April, series creator Andrew Marlowe said that they were writing a finale for season 7 that will give fans a good ending in case the show wasn't renewed for season 8.
By the looks of it, the same thing is what they are doing for the finale episode for the current season.
"Castle" season 8 airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
