Played by Krysten Ritter, the show was nominated for numerous awards such as Empire Awards for best TV series, Critics' Choice Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for Krysten Ritter and People's Choice Award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor for David Tennant.

Before the show was green-lit, creator Melissa Rosenberg always had Ritter on top of her list as the actress to play the role and her selection of the actress is now paying dividends. Not only is Ritter getting much-deserve praises, Rosenberg's work is also being recognized by different media outlets as well.

"All the conversations I wanted to be happening around it are happening," executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg told Variety in a press conference. She further added that she is pleased to see very articulate reviews about the show and how on point they are to the show's advocacy.

Meanwhile, for fans wondering when "Jessica Jones" season 2 release date might be, Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos told Digital Spy that "The Defenders" will be prioritized first.

"The complex one is The Defenders - the schedule for that show will determine season two and season three outputs for the other shows," Sarandos said in an interview. Hence, it looks like Jessica Jones will be teaming up with the likes of Matt Murdock, Luke Cage and Daniel Rand first before she embarks on her next adventures.

Now, fans are probably wondering who could be the villain in the next season. It is worth noting that in the first season, Jones had to deal with the villainous Kilgrave, which she killed in the last episode. The first season actually introduced another one of Jones' nemesis in officer Bill Simpson, played by Wil Traval, is also known as Nuke in the Marvel universe.
