According to Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara, instead of "if," a new solo Batman movie has always been a "when." In 2014, when Tsujihara revealed the studio's ten-strong slate of DC Comics movies, he has said details regarding more standalone films for Batman and Superman would be revealed later. He also added that they would also form a part of what is being called as the DC Expanded Universe.

For "Batman" fans as well as those who admire Affleck, who is a gifted director, this is indeed great news. Ironically, the recent release "Batman v. Superman" left the fans asking for a movie regarding "Batman" being "Batman." However, there seems to be one major problem, Gizmodo reported.

Firstly, it is fantastic news because Affleck was incredible as Batman in "Batman vs. Superman" despite that fact that the plot necessitated that him playing a psycho. Moreover, Affleck's understanding with Jeremy Irons, who portrays Alfred, is workable. What is more important is that fans want more Batman and it is also a good thing always, especially with Affleck, as his film will not retell the origin of Batman.

It is rumored that Affleck has been working on a Batman standalone script for several months. Moreover, some media outlets also reported that recently he had begun working with DC Comics' chief creative officer Geoff Johns to write the screenplay of the movie. Many are of the view that when Affleck agreed to play the Batman in Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman," he did it with a view to pen as well as direct a solo project on the Caped Crusader, Wired.co.uk reported.

Warner Bros. has, however, is yet to provide any information regarding the release date of the solo "Batman" movie or its storyline. "Batman vs. Superman" not only received wide critical acclaim, but the movie also laid the foundation either for prequels or sequels looking at in Affleck's take on a tormented Bruce Wayne, with mysteries shrouding the Wayne Manor ruins, or even what occurred to Batman's allies, except his loyal butler Alfred.

However, when Affleck took up the stage with his "Batman v Superman" co-star Amy Adams, he did not touch up or elaborate on the stand-alone film that Tsujihara mentioned. He just said, "It's been tremendously exciting for us to be a part of the DC Universe, and we're looking forward to working on Justice League."
