Good news MCU fans as there is a possibility that Tony Stark will be returning to the big screen with the fourth installment of "Iron Man" movie.

Several years before "Captain America: Civil War" was helmed, there was a big conflict at Marvel Studios, and it involved the decision on which actor to put in Iron Man's shoes. Jon Favreau, the director of the first "Iron Man" film, only had one candidate in mind, and it was none other than Robert Downey, Jr.

Favreau recalled that at the time of casting for "Iron Man," he consistently pitched Downey for the part but was "told no several times."

"Everybody knew [Robert Downey, Jr.] was talented... Certainly by studying the 'Ironman' role and developing that script I realized that the character seemed to line-up with Robert in all the good and bad ways," Favreau told Jack FM. "And the story of 'Ironman' was really the story of Robert's career."

Having Downey play "Iron Man" ultimately became Marvel's best decision ever, as it pushed the Marvel Cinematic Universe to becoming one of the biggest franchises in movie history.

In an interview with IGN, Favreau shared that he cannot imagine anyone else take on the role of Tony Stark.

"To me he's the one element that has unified all of it, and I think kept a consistent tone, and the integrity of his acting ability and his talent really works wonderfully synergistically with the Marvel universe," Favreau said about Downey.

Downey only has a few more movies left as "Iron Man." Under his current contract with Marvel Studios, he has committed to reprise his role for "Captain America: Civil War," the upcoming "Spiderman: Homecoming" reboot and the remaining "Avengers" films.

The "Iron Man" trilogy is complete, and Downey has consistently denied any possibility for a fourth film; however, in a recent interview, it appears that the actor has changed his tone. Speaking to ABC's "Nightline," Downey hinted that he feels like he could do one more. This is the first positive statement Downey has made with regard to "Iron Man 4."

It is an interesting revelation coming from the actor, although it appears plans for "Iron Man 4" may not be tabled any time soon, given Marvel's filled-to-the-brim movie lineup.
