"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 cast member Sara Ramirez recently confirmed her exit from the hit ABC series.

On her Twitter account, the actress took the time to express her gratitude towards the creators and producers of the show, as well as her fans.

"I am deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at 'Grey's Anatomy' & ABC but for now I'm taking some welcome time off. Shonda's been so incredible to work for, and we will definitely continue our conversations! I send my love to Ellen, the rest of the cast & crew, and I look forward to always being a part of the Shondaland family!" she wrote.

Meanwhile, executive producer Rhimes also praised Ramirez for her contribution on the show.

"Dr. Callie Torres came into our lives dancing it out in her underwear almost a decade ago, and I could not be happier or more proud of her journey. Sara Ramirez's performance inspired me as well as millions of fans each week. We wish her the best on her well-deserved time off. I will miss Callie tremendously, but am excited for what the future holds for Sara. She will always have a home at Shondaland," Rhimes tweeted.

Following Thursday night's finale episode, Ramirez posted another tweet that read, "#GreysAnatomy #CallieTorres #Gratitude #Love #Shondaland."

In other news, Ramirez's co-star Ellen Pompeo also took the time to praise her for her work on "Grey's Anatomy." Check out her tweet below!

Pompeo and Ramirez worked on the show together for multiple seasons. They also shared several scenes together because they belong to the same group of friends who are also working at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. 

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will air on ABC sometime in September. .
