There is no announcement yet from Blossom Entertainment on the next cities of Song Joong-ki’s Asian tour after he ends the China leg with the June 25 fan meet in Taiwan. The likely reason is that the “Descendants of the Sun” actor would concentrate on filming "Battleship Island."

The official website of the production company behind the epic war movie announced on Tuesday that on Wednesday and Thursday, June 22 and 23, the production crew would take photos of the scenes at Busan, South Korea. Then it would be followed by photoshoots for the film at Busan, Cheongju and other locations.

By mid-July, the crew would likely move to Chunchon where they would continue filming until early November. Since Song Joong-ki would begin to shoot his scenes for “Battleship Island” after June 25, it would mean fans of the 30-year-old actor would see less of him until after the shooting.

Meanwhile, to prevent leaks about the film to media, the actors would receive their scriptbook only on the day of the filming. Shooting schedule would be given on a monthly basis through the production crew, in addition to tight measures being put in place to ensure all possible sources of leaks are plugged.

Director Ryuu Seungwan said the filming site would use Hollywood style in shooting the movie. Being a historical movie, the director would detail the real-life stories of people who lived on Battleship Island when Japan controlled the area.

Song Joong-ki will portray Park Moo Young in the movie. The character is a member of the North Korean Independence Group who was given a secret command by the Office of Strategic Services, a wartime intelligence agency of the U.S., to sneak into Battleship Island to rescue Yoon Chul, a member of the independence group and the prime minister’s favorite.
