The Miami Heat is offering the veteran shooting guard Dwyane Wade $40 million for two more years in his home team.
ESPN's Ramona Shelburne has been told by a source that there is a bit of a "stalemate" between the superstar and the Heat, but that the team is optimistic about having him back and getting a deal done.
According to a source, Dwyane is hoping for a deal more than $20 million for a two-year contract, which he made last year. Other teams such as the Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks are also showing interest for the superstar, according to CBS Sports.
Other free-agency deals and efforts made by Miami have also been a critical part of the deal between the two, such as re-signing center Hassan Whiteside and pursuing Oklahoma City Thunder's former MVP Kevin Durant, in which The Heat agreed to a $98 million four-year deal with Hassan.
Meanwhile, Miami heat power forward Chris Bosh is remaining hopeful that he will return after major setbacks in the last two seasons forcing him to skip a good amount of games. He is due $76 million over the next three seasons.
Having been part of the franchise since he was drafted in 2003, Dwyane has helped the team's mobility by taking a few pay cuts and short-term deals just for the team to manage their salary cap.
This leads to the Nuggets and the Bucks being open to offering him good deals just in case he wants to move out of Miami for the first time in his NBA career.
Last May, Dwyane said that he just hopes everything works out well for him, since he has no control over his status as a free agent, and that the contract he signs this summer will make him comfortable.
He also believes that despite being 35 years old, he is not yet close to his retirement, especially since last season was one of his healthiest and most productive performances in years.
The 3x NBA Champion and 12x NBA All-Star has been scoring an average of 19 points per game in the last regular season and 21.4 points per game in the recent NBA Playoffs.
