"The Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev will star in the upcoming movie "Flatliners."

Just recently, the actress arrived on set with a huge umbrella in tow.

On Sunday, Toronto, Canada was experiencing heavy rains so the actress needed to protect herself from getting sick.

According to Just Jared, Dobrev stars in "Flatliners" alongside Ellen Page and Kiersey Clemons.

The film revolves around the lives of a group of medical students who experiment mainly on near death experiences.

However, since the near death experiences take place due to dark consequences, each of the medical students' lives will be put in huge danger.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Dobrev will head to the filming of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Dobrev played the role of Elena Gilbert for the past six seasons before deciding to ultimately leave the franchise.

However, executive producer Julie Plec recently said that there's still a chapter of Elena's life waiting to be told on the show. After all, Dobrev's exit from the hit The CW series was very abrupt.

Plec added that she wants Dobrev to reprise her role as Elena in the finale episode of "the Vampire Diaries."

As of late, it is still unclear whether or not "The Vampire Diaries" will be renewed for season 9. What is only known is that Ian Somerhalder will be leaving the franchise at the end of the upcoming season.

With this, there is a huge possibility that Dobrev will be back on the show in season 8 because Elena has an unsettled business with her ex-boyfriend Damon Salvatore.

In other news, Dobrev and Somerhalder are rumored to be attending the upcoming 2016 San Diego Comic Con.

"The Vampire Diaries" has confirmed their attendance in the said event, and Somerhalder will most likely be around to give some spoilers from season 8. The actor will also be answering some press and fan questions.

As of late, there is still no confirmation with regards to Dobrev's attendance, but even if the actress won't be there, she and her character will most definitely become a topic for discussion.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere on The CW sometime this October.
