"W" writer just revealed the meaning of the drama's title. The fantasy drama stars Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo as Kang Chul and Dr. Oh Yoon-Joo, respectively.

On the MBC's bulletin board, screenwriter Song Jae-Jung opened up about the significance behind the single-letter title of the hit drama series, The Jakarta Post reported. First, "W" stands for "who and "why," as they were the two key inquiries Kang Chul is seeking to answer after his family was killed.

It can be recalled Kang Chul family was killed by an unknown killer. For how many years, he tries to find the murderer and seek revenge.

From Dr. Oh Yeon Joo's perspective, "W" signifies a "Wonder World," as the heroine abruptly enters the ambivalent universe of the webtoon that her father (Kim Eui-Sung) created. She has the ability to go back and forth between the webtoon world and the real world.

To help viewers better comprehend the drama's plot, scriptwriter Song has shared the drama's entire script on the web. She revealed the original script has differences in storyline compared to the television version.

"I appreciate all the viewers who had spent two months watching this abnormal, obscure, complicated, odd and unfriendly series," scriptwriter Song explained on the MBC's bulletin board, as cited by The Kpop Herald. "If you read the script in the written version while lying in bed, you will find it easier to understand (the synopsis). What was shown in the TV series was breathtakingly short."

The script for the final episode, which is slated to air on Sept. 14, Wednesday at 10:00 (KST), will be available after the broadcast. "W" heavily revolves around an alternate timeline, where webtoon characters suddenly come to life.

Other stars include Lee Tae-Hwan, Jeong Eu-Gene, Park Won-Sang, Lee Si-Un, Cha Kwang-Soo, Kang Ki-Young, Nam Gi-Ae, Heo Jung-Do and Yang Hye-Ji. It is directed by Jung Dae-Yoon, whose previous projects include 2015's "She Was Pretty", 2014's "Cunning Single Lady" and 2012's "Arang and the Magistrate."
