Netflix's "Longmire" Season 5 just wrapped up, and now fans are clamoring for a renewal of Season 6. While the network is mum about the sixth installment, fans are optimistic that the show will air in fall 2017.
A&E previously cancelled "Longmire," which was then picked up by Netflix for Season 5. Netflix rarely cancels shows even when it comes to those it has saved from cancellation on other networks. There are high chances that more on "Longmire" will come up soon.
However, Netflix recently did something not expected when it cancelled "Bloodline," the Emmy-nominated thriller starring Kyle Chandler. Cancelling such a great series represents a turning point for the network, which has conventionally been known to add subscribers, shows, and awards. There is much concern now as to whether or not the network will cancel "Longmire" as well.
It is reported that Robert Taylor, who plays Walt Longmire, and author Johnson confirmed that the series would see the light of the day in 2017. However, this information should be taken with a grain of salt considering that nothing is currently official.
Chances are that "Longmire" will live for another season since Season 5 wrapped up with many cliffhangers. At the end of Season 5, Walt and his new ladylove, Dr. Donna, were at the mercy of an unknown assailant. This ending left a particular impression upon viewers, making them care about a set of specific incidences when the show returns, according to Screenrant.
Furthermore, Vic Moretti's (Katee Sackhoff) ongoing romance with both Eamonn and Travis Murphy created a rote pregnancy debacle in which the identity of the father is unknown. A renewal of the show is the only way to solve such loose ends.
While there has been a romantic history between Moretti and Walt, their relationship did not mature fully with Walt focusing on Dr. Donna, according to Cartermatt. The relationship will be complicated with the entrance of a new lover in the life of former. Walt will still think about Moretti amid parting ways with her.
Further rumors suggest that the purported sixth installment will provide answers to the verdicts between Cady Longmire (Cassidy Freeman) and Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Philipps). Cady will still have issues with her father, while Bear will still be naïve just as he has always been from the beginning of Season 5.
