''Hunter X Hunter'' is a very popular anime series and the season one and two were very successful. However, the makers have not given a green signal to go ahead with the production of season 3. The long hiatus of its creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, is one of the main reasons for the Studio Pierrot, the makers of the series not to go ahead with the season 3.

After 20 months of hiatus, Togashi came up with 11 new manga chapters this year; however, chapter 361 is yet to be released. There were rumors that Weekly Shōnen Jump, which has been publishing the manga series since March 3, 1998, is thinking of hiring other writers to continue with the manga series and which will help them to come up with the anime series too. As per the latest updates, there is no definite date of the season 3 to be renewed. According to Rocket News 24, the manga is on a hiatus again.

It is also speculated that Togashi will become a consultant instead of the main creator of the series. That way the weekly series can be published by Shueisha without any delays. The new writers who were assigned the responsibility to write the manga episodes did not meet the expectations of Togashi and that left Shueisha with no other choice but to wait for Togashi to return from his hiatus.

While the fans are waiting for the season 3 to be released, they can always watch the episodes from season 1 and 2 to refresh their memory on the storyline. In spite of the fact that Togashi's wife Naoko Takeuchi, who is a famous manga artist and creator herself has been helping him to come up with more editions of the manga, the manga had to be put on hiatus again. Takeuchi has been helping her husband with drawing the background patterns and illustrations of ''Hunter x Hunter.''

Meanwhile, the popularity of the anime and manga series has not reduced and the fan forums are still ripe with the discussions of the manga coming back from hiatus. In April this year Toonami's Adult Swim block telecasted the season 2 on their channel, Crunchyroll reported. Studio Pierrot might consider coming up with season 3 of the TV anime series as enough material is available for it.
