"Doctor Who" Season 10 promises to be an explosive feast featuring a lot of action-packed space exploration and some drama on the side. The Doctor himself, Peter Capaldi, gave the juicy details on what's to come on the long-running BBC show.

"I think it's a very action-packed season," Capaldi told Movie Pilot. "It's a lot of space exploration, and a lot of excitement and drama." With a show like "Doctor Who," nothing is impossible and things can only get bigger.

Capaldi added that "Doctor Who" Season 10 will be less emotional compared to the previous outings, and that the show's drama will come as a surprise to its viewers.

Another major change that fans are looking forward to is the arrival of the new companion, which is portrayed by Pearl Mackie. After Jenna Coleman's exit from the show, Mackie has some very big shoes to fill in, but the 29-year-old actress is more than ready to go.

"It's mad, it's really exciting. There's loads of fans!" Mackie gushed during her first day of filming at Cathays Park in Cardiff Wales. According to EW, Mackie would make her debut as Bill, the new companion, in the first episode of "Doctor Who" Season 10. Mackie's character is expected to give a fresh take on the whole concept of time travelling since she's "not part of the 'Doctor Who' world" so the idea of travelling through space and time is still new to her.

In the meantime, there have been rumors that the tenth season might be Capaldi's last run as the Doctor. Last year, the actor was hinting that he might soon exit "Doctor Who," saying that 2016 "could be [his] final year" on the show.

"It's terrifying," Capaldi said. "I love 'Doctor Who' but it can be quite an insular world and I do want to do other things. There will come a time when this is over. Moreover, Steven Moffat is bowing out as the "Doctor Who" showrunner after the tenth season, which means it's likely that a lot of major changes will happen in the eleventh season and onward.

"Doctor Who" Season 10 will air in spring 2017.
