Selected U.S.-based loyal fans will have a chance to preview the upcoming Nintendo Switch gaming console starting January 2017. The company said that guests chosen for their special events will have a chance to try out the upcoming console before its official launch in March.

"To thank you for being a loyal fan, we'd like to offer you a chance to try the Nintendo Switch system before it's released," said the email that was sent out earlier obtained by Go Nintendo

Individuals who receive the special email will have to register for a spot on the guest list, which is on a first come, first served basis. However, the exact details of the special event are not yet available and only those who have successfully registered will be the ones to receive it.

According to the information gathered by IGN, the event FAQ shows that Nintendo plans to hold a special event in five major cities in the country. An event is slated to happen in New York on Jan. 13 to 15, Washington D.C. will also have one on Feb. 10 to 12, and the Chicago event is set for Feb. 17 to 19. By Feb. 24 to 26, fans in Los Angeles will have their chance, while those in San Francisco will get the opportunity from March 3 to 5.

Before things go down in New York, a special event for the Nintendo Switch will happen first in Tokyo, Japan. The company is set to reveal the most important detail for the their new video game console -- its retail price. Other relevant details will also be announced during the event. Fans in other countries can watch the activity unfold via a streamed coverage on the Nintendo Switch website.

Currently, very few details are known about the Nintendo Switch, but according to several reports, it is powered by a custom NVIDIA Tegra processor, has a 6.2-inch touch screen with a 720p resolution and  a USB Type-C port for charging the device. It is expected to be around $300.
