JYJ member Kim Junsu will be enlisting in the military in February this year. The singer and actor bid goodbye to his fans in the most heartfelt way: by giving them an exceptional performance as L in the "Death Note" musical.

The "Death Note" musical, which first premiered in Japan in April 2015, will be performed at the Opera Theater of Seoul Arts Center from Jan. 3 to Jan. 26. The event is proving to be very popular in South Korea, with 1,000 tickets sold in less than a minute in December through Interpark.

Kim Junsu takes on the role of Detective L, one of the two main characters in the "Death Note" musical. He stars alongside Han Ji Sang who plays Light Yagami. Other cast members include Park Hye Na, Kang Hong Suk, Ben, Seo Young Joo and Lee Soo Bin.

Apart from the "Death Note" musical, Kim Junsu also met with fans in his fifth end-of-the-year concert titled "2016 XIA Ballad & Musical Concert with Orchestra vol. 5." The three-day concert was a big success for the singer with sold-out seats.

According to Soompi, Kim Junsu performed songs from all the plays he participated in the past six years. He performed as the character he portrayed in each play. In total, he portrayed seven characters and received praise for how he carried the entire show.

"It was a performance that only Kim Junsu could pull off, and he did his best to create the best stage he could possibly give his fans," a representative said.

He also opened up about his impending military enlistment. "I like to think of it as a quick break. I think it's something all Korean men should go through," Kim Junsu said. "I will make sure I take care of my health. Once that time passes, I'll come back and repay you for the love you all have given me."

Kim Junsu is enlisting on Feb. 9, 2017.

In the meantime, Junsu's JYJ group mate Kim Jae Joong was recently discharged from the military. Soompi reported that Junsu and Jae Joong had a mini reunion. Jae Joong also promised to watch Junsu perform in the "Death Note" musical.
