"The Defenders" will unite the Netflix-Marvel heroes Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). For some this will be their first time meeting and actor Mike Colter gives some insight on the relationship between Cage and Iron Fist.

Cage can be seen as a conciliator and is the member of the team who has more experience and wisdom, Colter explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The actor further explained that in a very mature manner, Cage had compartmentalized his life.

This will be a stark contrast to the brash, young Iron Fist. Colter further elaborates that there will be a balanced exchange between the old and new.

"He's a young guy. There's an exuberance that Iron Fist comes with that Luke Cage wants to temper a bit," Colter stated. "It can't help but have a wisdom-versus-youth quality. Danny comes out like a bull in a china shop in some ways, and I think Luke has seen the world and knows certain things. It's a cool combination that'll work out."

Iron Fist and Luke Cage did work together as a duo in the original Marvel comic books, particularly in the "Heroes for Hire" series. However, Colter explains that while the series will take cues from the source materials they will be updating the story to better suit the modern setting.

This will reflect how the other Netflix-Marvel shows have been adapted thus far. "Daredevil," "Luke Cage," "Iron Fist" and "Jessica Jones" took inspiration from the comics but also utilized a modern spin on the classic stories, Screen Rant reported.

Some of the most iconic stories adapted thus far include the rise of the Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) and the origin story of the Punisher (Jon Bernthal). These story arcs did follow the same beats as their source materials but have been altered to better suit the modern day setting and the overall story of each show.

"The Defenders" will premiere on Netflix in Summer this year. The San Diego Comic-Con teaser trailer can be viewed below:
