"Grey's Anatomy" co-stars Justin Chambers and Ellen Pompeo recently shared their thoughts about a potential romance between their characters Alex and Meredith, respectively. Meanwhile, former cast member Sandra Oh opened up about returning to the ABC medical series.

Many fans of the long-running medical series have been hoping for a potential love-line between Alex and Meredith given the two characters' close bond with each other. Following the death of Meredith's husband Derek (Patrick Dempsey) in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 11, Alex was one of the people who helped her recover from the devastating ordeal.

There were also several scenes in the ABC series' succeeding two seasons that hinted at a more deeper relationship developing between the two characters. However, Chambers and Pompeo recently debunked the Alex and Meredith romance speculations.

In an interview with E! News, the two "Grey's Anatomy" stars each gave a candid response about the said speculated pairing and described it as weird. Highlighting their actual closeness off-camera, Pompeo mentioned that she considers Chambers as her brother given their long working relationship.

The actor also echoed Pompeo's statement and mentioned how Alex and Meredith are like siblings rather than lovers. However, he remained open to the possibility of a romance brewing between the two characters.

Chambers stated, "I think anything is possible ... Personally, I don't see it. But, hey, this is Grey's Anatomy. Anything is possible."

Meanwhile, "Grey's Anatomy" alum Oh commented on speculations that she might be reprising her role as Cristina in the ABC medical series. During the actress' guest appearance on Access Hollywood Live, she shared that she has no plans of returning to the show.

However, Oh is open to doing a guest appearance provided the timing and story will "feel right." She even shared that she had a previous discussion with "Grey's Anatomy" showrunner Shonda Rhimes about a potential cameo but nothing definite was planned.
