Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed tied the knot on April 26, Sunday, and Nina Dobrev was reportedly invited to the intimate ceremony but she turned it down.
The 26-year-old former star for the series "The Vampire Diaries" (TVD) put on a mature front regarding the marriage of her ex and her ex-best friend but she felt like it was too awkward if she went to the ceremony, a source told Hollywood Life.
Dobrev was in a relationship with 36-year-old Somerhalder for three years and the publication added that she does not have any hard feelings towards the newlyweds.
The source added that Dobrev loved Somerhalder with all her heart but having to watch him walk down the aisle and marry Reed would be too painful. Dobrev reportedly moved on already and she wants to close the doors regarding her past and just continue moving forward.
Reed and Somerhalder got married in Santa Monica, California and the marriage came nine months after their whirlwind romance started, E! News reported. Reed and Somerhalder were engaged just four months ago.
Photos of the two getting married circulated on the internet hours after the ceremony but the marriage reports were confirmed only on April 28, Tuesday.
The newlyweds were first spotted together in July 2014 at a Los Angeles farmers market and have continued to surprise their fans with their announcements that came after. They first proved that they were getting serious with their relationship by adopting a horse named Eagle. They also adopted a kitten shortly after adopting the said horse.
Their love for animals was also evident during their wedding because they asked the guests to donate in their animal rescue charity instead of giving them different kinds of gifts.
