Avid "X-Men" fans were thrilled with news that the upcoming flick, "X-Men: Apocalypse" now has a sexy swordsman in the addition of Olivia Munn to the cast. The excitement is building up as the month progresses. As Psylocke, Munn has been busy as of late practicing her sword skills.

Psylocke, as comic book fans know, is an astute martial artist who has gone through intense and traumatic experiences that have conditioned her to be tough and unrelenting. The "Iron Man 2" actress is intent on being adept in Japanese sword training, and has even posted a photo in her Instagram account that shows her wielding a katana.

Munn, who turns 35 in July, was unable to contain her excitement for her new project. A few months ago, she also posted in social media the costume that she will be wearing in the upcoming "X-Men" movie, People reported. The actress will be joining the A-list cast that includes Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and James McAvoy.

Munn's current boyfriend Aaron Rodgers, quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, has gotten in step with Munn by trying out his own sword tricks, Comic Book reported.

Getting in the role of Psylocke/Betsy Braddock does not just involve learning samurai fighting skills. As a mutant equipped with special abilities that include telepathy, she also needs to mentally condition herself to really get into the character. Psylocke is known to be able to attack her enemies mentally. On top of that, she has teamed up with different members of "X-Men".

Munn earned praises for her role as a smart senior reporter in "The Newsroom" and also appeared in "Magic Mike" opposite Channing Tatum, among other films. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is slated to hit theaters in May 2016.
