With the reports saying that Channing Tatum leaves film production of Rupert Wyatt's "Gambit," here are five actors who can potentially be throw the cards in the upcoming film.
Taylor Kitsch is the first in the list. He played the role of the Cajun Mutant in Gavin Hood's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" in 2009. The actor's performance made an appeal to the fans, though the film got some negative comments from critics, according to Cinema Blend. The publication said that if he gets the chance to reprise his character in Wyatt's film, he may need to work on Gambit's accent.
"Hannibal Rising" actor Gaspard Ulliel is another great choice to play the role of the titular character in Wyatt's upcoming film if Tatum confirms to leave. With his French nationality, it would be easier for Ulliel to employ Gambit's Cajun mutant. He is also known for his roles in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's romance drama "A Very Long Engagement" and in Bertrand Bonello's biopic "Saint Laurent."
"Supernatural" actor Jared Padalecki can also play Gambit's role, as the actor resembles Remy LeBeau in the comics. With his prolific role in the fantasy television series as Sam Winchester, Padelacki has got a considerable fan base, which can see him in action in the big screen. However, Wyatt's "Gambit" would have to be moved, as the filming for "Supernatural's" eleventh season could be a conflict.
Alexander Skarsgard can be a perfect fit as Gambit. The actor is playing the role of Eric Northman in HBO's "True Blood." The character's complicated and dark nature coincides with LeBeau hero-villain traits in the comics. This could also mean an opportunity for his co-star Anna Paquin to appear as Rogue in Wyatt's film.
Kit Harington, who has established his name in David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' "Game of Thrones" as Jon Snow, is another potential actor to play the role of the Cajun Mutant, as per International Business Times. With his hair and threatening face, Harington can be seen throwing the playing cards in Wyatt's "Gambit."
"Gambit" features the origin story of the Cajun mutant. At this point, additional cast members and exact plot details have yet to be revealed. If Tatum confirms that he is leaving the film production, then 20th Century Fox has the option to stick with the film's release date or delay it.
As of now, Wyatt's "Gambit" solo film is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Oct. 7, 2016.
