After reports saying that "Magic Mike XXL" actor Channing Tatum will exit the production for Rupert Wyatt's "Gambit," it has been reported that the actor still holds th cards of the Cajun mutant.

Sources told The Wrap the Tatum has made an agreement with 20th Century Fox to play the titular card-throwing mutant in Wyatt's upcoming "Gambit." This was three days following reports that the actor will leave the studio and the film production. There were no comments from Tatum and 20th Century Fox regarding the issue.

Several actors had also been reported to play Gambit's role following reports about Tatum's possible exit from the production. They include "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" actor Taylor Kitsch, "Hannibal Rising" actor Gaspard Ulliel, "Supernatural" actor Jared Padalecki," "True Blood" actor Alexander Skarsgard, and "Game of Thrones" actor Kit Harington.

On July 28, it has also been reported that the studio had been conducting screen tests with young actresses for a female lead role, along with the "Magic Mike XXL" actor. "Spectre" actress Lea Seydoux was reported as one of the candidates for the role. At the moment, the studio has not announced any updates about the film's female lead.

According to Hufftington Post, Tatum also promoted his role in Wyatt's "Gambit" as he appeared at the San Diego Comic-Con before the issue. He even shared a photo on his Instagram account.  

Aside from Tim Miller's "Deadpool," Wyatt's "Gambit" serves as one of Marvel's bullet films as the studio transitions from Phase Two to Phase Three. "Gambit" features the origin story of the Cajun mutant. At the moment, additional cast members and exact plot details have yet to be announced.

Wyatt's "Gambit" solo film is set to hit theaters in the United States on Oct. 7, 2016.
