Director James Gunn has just confirmed some explosive spoilers for his upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2."

A fan asked director Gunn if moviegoers will see Rocket's origin as well as new members of the Guardians in the film sequel and the director answered "Yes and yes" to both questions, according to Movie Pilot.

Gunn's confirmation implies that fans will be seeing in the big screen the events behind Rocket's existence, along with his creator. The events in the comics reveal that Rocket was created on a lone planet by a team of uninhibited robots from a medical institution that become bankrupt.

While Gunn's film may be loyal to the pages of the Marvel comics, the director may also diverge and integrate plot twists in his upcoming film, an element that contributed to the success of his "Guardians of the Galaxy" in 2014.

Meanwhile, Gunn has also confirmed that there will be new Guardians to join Star-Lord and his team in "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2." Nebula may help the Guardians take down her father Thanos, since she detests him. Yondu, though being quite a villain in the first film, may become an ally and help the cosmic superheroes in their endeavor.

Other possible new Guardians include Agent Venom, Bug the insectvorid, Drax's daughter Moondragon, the Vietnamese Mantis, Cosmo the Astro Dog, and Howard the Duck.

Aside from these spoilers, Gunn may reveal more details on his upcoming film, as production has been confirmed to start on Feb. 15, 2016 to Aug. 15, 2016, as per Spoiler TV.  However, the said filming dates are still tentative.

"Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper (voice), Vin Diesel (voice), Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, and Michael Rooker, among others.

Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" is set to hit theaters in the United States on May 5, 2017.
