Edgar Wright's upcoming film "Collider" has advanced to the next level, as it has got Mark L. Smith as the screenwriter for the film.
According to Deadline, "Vacancy" writer Smith has accepted a deal to pen the latest draft of Wright's upcoming film. The first draft was written by Mark Protosevich, who is known for writing the screenplay for Kenneth Branagh's "Thor," Francis Lawrence's sci-fi thriller "I Am Legend," and Wolfgang Petersen's action-adventure "Poseidon."
Aside from Nimrod Antal's horror-thriller film "Vacancy," Smith is also known for his works, which include Eric Bross' horror-thriller "Vacancy 2: The First Cut" and Joe Dante's adventure-fantasy "The Hole." The writer is also set to pen Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's adventure drama film "The Revenant" and Kevin Goetz and Michael Goetz action-horror film "Martyrs."
As for Wright, he is known for directing the action-comedy film "Hot Fuzz," action-fantasy "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," and the action sci-fi film "The World's End." He was set to direct Marvel's "Ant-Man," but left the film to Peyton Reed.
With Wright seeing that "Collider" needs a good script, Smith stands as an incisive move for the director, as per Cinema Blend. Writing the screenplay of Wright's film entails that Smith's schedule is going to be filled-up as the writer is currently working on "Ghost Recon" and "Norse" for Warner Bros.
Set to be distributed by Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot, Wright's "Collider" is still in its early phase of development at the moment, so the cast, exact plot details, and release date are yet to be revealed.
