Tech company Nextbit recently unveiled a smartphone that has some groundbreaking new feature. Nextbit claims that its device, dubbed Robin, will never run out of storage space since it is mainly focused on cloud.
According to ZDNet, current cloud services only allow devices to sync, backup and store files in the cloud storage service. The Nextbit Robin is different since it integrates the cloud system into the device which in turn function as an integrated storage.
Nextbit created a smart system embedded on both the cloud and the device which makes the smartphone adapt flawlessly to their users storage demands. For offline storage, the Robin packs 32GB of space but as it slowly starts to fill up and the user needs more storage space, the system kicks in and automatically moves contents directly into Nextbit's cloud storage so the user can continue using their device.
Hardware specifications of the Nextbit Robin includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB of RAM. 5.2-inch LCD display with 1080p resolution. A 13-megapixel rear facing main camera with RAW support and a 5-megapixel front facing camera.
The Robin has a 2680mAh battery pack with support for Quick Charge 2.0. The device also supports USB Type-C 3.0 and it has an integrated fingerprint scanner. Connectivity feature includes Bluetooth, near field communication, Wi-Fi and several LTE band support.
The Nextbit Robin is also designed to appeal to Android enthusiasts that is why the device comes in with an unlocked bootloader. Users who loves to install custom ROM's on their Android devices will love the fact that installing one on the Robin will not void its warranty, according to Tech Crunch.
The Nextbit Robin was funded through a Kickstarter campaign and the first 1,000 backers of the project can avail the smartphone for only $299 with 100GB of cloud storage. The device is expected to be released in January 2016. The phone will fetch a retail price of $399 once it officially hits the market.
