The famous British television series "Doctor Who" Season 9' aired its episode premier free of plot spoilers, and was regarded as a non-friendly preview to viewers who are watching the series for the first time.

Known for his playful and jaw-dropping tactics, head writer Steven Moffat kept the "Doctor Who" season even more intriguing by loading the series with the British program's history. According to io9, the said episode is loaded with lots of character cameos and historical references of the famous fictional series.

If the viewer is not a "Doctor Who" expert, television critics claimed that the novice watcher might experienced confusing as tons of characters are presented. In addition, the episode appears to assume that the viewer already know who the roles these characters played.

Re-aired on 2005 by television producer Russell Davies, the science-fiction program originally had a series run from 1963 to 1989. The British series features the adventures of a Time Lord referred to as "The Doctor" who is a time-travelling humanoid alien. The famous character had since explored the universe in his time-travelling space ship "TARDIS".

Throughout his journey, "The Doctor" is aided by various companions who fought against different foes while saving civilizations and providing help for people in need.

Currently, the role of the central character is played by Scottish actor Peter Capaldi whose character had gone missing. Based on the said premier, the eccentric doctor was nowhere to be found after he helped a boy trapped in a war zone.

Intrigued, "Doctor Who" fans kept wondering where the time-travelling doctor have gone to and the motivation behind agent Colony Sarff's pursuit of the missing protagonist. According to Metro News, the excitement heightens as supporters questioned the reasons behind The Doctor's disappearance and his close companion Clara Oswald's quest to successfully find him.

Meanwhile, "Doctor Who" Season 9's first episode "The Magician's Apprentice" was aired at BBC America on Sept. 19, Saturday at 9 p.m.
