Japanese tech giant Sony unveiled two new smartphones, the Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact, earlier this month at the IFA 2015 event in Berlin, Germany.
The Sony Xperia Z5 has been available for pre-order in Hong Kong, while the Z5 Compact recently made its way in several countries in Europe.
The Xperia Z5 Compact costs around £400 (US$600) to £450 (US$683) in the U.K. via local online retailers, according to GSM Arena, and will be released sometime by early October. The Z5 Compact is also available for pre-order in Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden and Poland, via Sony's local websites.
In Hong Kong, the Z5 costs about US$735 and the Z5 Compact costs about US$619. As for the phone's availability in the U.S., there's still no word on when it will arrive in the North American market. In addition, another handset, the Xperia Z5 Premium, is also expected to be available possibly at a later time, Android Headlines reported.
In terms of the specs, the Sony Xperia Z5 sports a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. It runs on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version operating system (OS), and comes with a very powerful 23 mega pixel rear-facing camera along with a 5.1 mega pixel camera on the front.
Inside, the Xperia Z5 has Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM, and 32GB internal memory that can be expanded up to a whopping 200GB via microSD card. In addition, the Xperia Z5 is powered by a large 2900 mAh battery that offers up to 13 hours and 10 minutes of talk time.
As for the Z5 Compact, it sports a smaller 4.6-inch IPS LCD display screen with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. Like the Xperia Z5, this phone also has a 23 mega pixel rear camera and a 5.1 mega pixel front camera. Under the hood, the Xperia Z5 Compact packs the Snapdragon 810 processor as well, 32GB of expandable built-in memory, 2GB of RAM and a slightly smaller 2700 mAh battery.
