"Castle" season eight's finale date has just been announced.
According to TV Line, the series will release its final episode on May 10 at 10 p.m. ET.
As of late, there is still no word from the network executives whether or not the series will be renewed for season 9.
However, it seems that show's once-loyal fans are no longer looking forward to seeing Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) for another season.
One fan @John Z wrote, "If season 9 is like season 8 please cancel it. Also any spin off rebott etc, without both Castle and Beckett TOGETHER, please don't bother. The show would have plngestivty if the writing quality was back to its old standard along with the characters. We want a mature long story between two adults, not jazz hands and capt Hoochie Mama fat humor."
Another fan @Richard Castle wrote, "I sincerely hope these showrunners are replaced soon. They have not endured the faithful followers since the end of season 7. What makes ABC think Castle fans will watch it just by changing the name of the show? By all counts it's One and Done."
One fan @Kaz wrote, "I guess greed is the overriding factor here. This show died when Castle disappeared... It's been on life support ever since. Let's hope that the ratings are abysmal when the show returns because someone has to apply some common sense to this sad situation..."
Meanwhile, there are also some rumors that a "Castle" spinoff may be released on ABC if ever the series itself is cancelled.
If the spinoff pushes through, it will reportedly focus on Castle and his daughter Alexis. It's also highly possible that Katic will no longer be around to reprise her role as Kate.
Fans believe that a spinoff is not a good idea especially since "Castle" without both Rick and Kate seems impossible to watch.
