Microsoft Band 2 is one of the latest Microsoft products to have received an update that will surely excite currents user and interested buyers. The tech giant previously announced that Cortana can be used with Microsoft Band, but with their update Cortana can now also support Android phones that are currently dominating the market regarding sales volume.
This latest move by Microsoft is a product of a firmware update that not only allows Android users to maximize voice commands for Microsoft Band 2, but it also paved a way for bugs to be fixed. The software update made by Microsoft in a way complemented the physical update they have done with their Band 2.
It can be remembered that there were many concerns raised regarding the uncomfortable design of the first Microsoft Band, according to TechRadar. The stiff and flat display were innovated into a curve screen that gives a greater fit and display for the user to see more clearly some notifications. And the said physical update is now balanced with its latest firmware update making it more user-friendly.
With the inclusion of Android phone being supported by Cortana, Microsoft Band users can now easily get hold of a personal assistant for instant notifications and voice-active info without any physical interaction towards their phone, according to Microsoft.
However, new and future Microsoft Band users should realize that for Cortana to be active on an Android phone, the Cortana App should be downloaded first from the Google Store. And once Microsoft Cortana has been installed users should ensure that the full functionality of the app has been turned on as advised by Microsoft.
Since a new update was made, there is no need for future buyers to set high concern on the price. For based on their official store website, Microsoft even included a discount with the price of Microsoft Band 2 for a limited period. Originally introduced for $249, now the Band 2 is now only $174.99. Apart from the good news of a discount, previos Microsoft Band owners, should also rejoice for firmware update and Cortana's functions also affects the previous version.
