Japanese luxury car maker Acura recently unveiled its 2016 model of the ILX sports sedan. The new sedan packs more power, improved handling and has a sportier look. Acura will release the ILX in three variants, the standard ILX, ILX Premium Package and ILX Tech Plus Package.

The new ILX packs a new 16 valve, 2.4-liter direct injected DOHC i-VTEC engine. The engine is capable of producing 201 horsepower at 6,800 rpm. The outgoing 2.0 engine has a maximum output of 150 horsepower. The new engine also uses the newly developed 9-speed dual clutch transmission integrated with torque converter and Sequential Sport Shift.

Mileage is at 25MPG for city driving, 36MPG for highway and 29MPG combined, according to Sports Car Illustrated.

Acura also added a more distinctive front look highlighted by the Jewel Eye LED headlights. The new ILX also has sports a new grille design and a 10-spoke 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels.

Acura also upgraded the insides of the car throwing in an all new multimedia and navigation system that gives the car a whole new level of modernity. The Premium and Tech Plus models offer an eight-inch upper display and a seven-inch lower touchscreen. The Premium variant gets a seven-speaker sound system and the Tech Plus has the 10-speaker ELS premium sound system.

All ILX variants have a multi-view rear camera.

The standard ILX has a price tag of $27,900 and has a power moonroof and an eight-way power driver seat. If buyers opt to get the $29,900 Premium variant they will get leather seats, a feature for blind spot detection and a power passenger seat. The $32,900 Tech Plus model adds the AcuraWatch Plus which offers an adaptive cruise control mechanism, lane-keeping assistance and collision warning, according to Auto Blog.
