Hideo Kojima's latest endeavor "Death Stranding" got fans musing on it since it was announced at the recently concluded Electronics Entertainment Expo. In December 2016, another teaser was again served, giving more hints to some eagle-eyed game critics and hardcore fans alike.
Aside from "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus, the second trailer showcased a character with the likeness of director Guillermo del Toro. In 2015, both personalities were tapped by Kojima to be part of the now canned "Silent Hills" title.
Looking closely at the del Toro character render, it can be seen that he dons a badge with the word "BRIDGE" on it with a map of the United States alongside the phrase "The United Cities of America." There was also a noticeable scar in his forehead suggesting that the director's character has undergone a head surgery or something.
The infant being featured in both teasers suggests that the two are connected, according to The Daily Dot. The disfigured doll midway the video also plays a hint in the game as it also sports the same abdominal scar that Reedus' character had in the first trailer.
Depicted as a creepy looking soldier, Mads Mikkelsen is expected to play as the antagonist in the game. Unlike del Toro and Reedus who were both connected to an infant, Mikkelsen was connected to four skeleton soldier. It can also be seen that he first gave orders to his troop before they were disconnected from Mikkelsen's character.
The title itself also provided quite a clue as to what will the plot of the game be. "Stranding" is a term used when a ship or a creature was driven or left to shore with a small chance of moving again to another point.
Hence, partnered with the word "death," it may well seem that the protagonists are like trapped in a place or another reality after their deaths. The said concept was very much evident with the first teaser as a plethora of dead marine life were washed ashore creating a harrowing scene.
Another talent is rumored to be tapped once again by Kojima to play an undisclosed role in the game. Known as Quiet in "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," Stefanie Joosten did visit the studio of Guerilla Games in Amsterdam, Gaming Bolt quoted the Japan-based actress as saying.
Joosten did not mention what game she will be part of. Guerilla has collaborated with Kojima Productions in developing "Death Stranding." The latter will be using the former's "Decima" engine.
